The vocal ensemble Cantico Nuovo was founded in 1990 by its current director Christian Bährens and prepares in weekend projects concert programmes with repertoire of various musical periods. In the past the ensemble presented concerts under different themes: Symphoniae Sacrae with motets of Purcell, Rosenmüller and Schütz, Dido&Aeneas of Henry Purcell, Sacred Choral Music of the 20th Century with music composed by Duruflé, Poulenc, Messiaen, Nees and others, Lamentationes of Jeremiae by Lassus, Tallis and White and last but not least English Romantic Partsongs. This project was produced as a CD, and some of the songs can be listened to on this website under Hörbeispiele. Another programm "Missa Collage" which comprised sacred music from von Orlando Gibbons to Ola Gielo. Cantico celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2015 with Henry Purcell's DIDO&AENEAS an went to the international choral festival Cracovia Cantans last year.
