I composed my setting of the medieval Marian hymn in 2023. As cantus firmus I chose not only the traditional Gregorian chant but also related melodies: the English folksong "Scarborough fair", the Swedish/Norwegian folksong "Vem kan seglar" and the German Christmas song "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen". The four-part setting for female choir is embedded in carillon-like sounds. You find the layout of my composition concept below.
